Girls' Self-Defense Class

$249.00

Confidence You Can't Get From a Lecture

Every girl should know how to set a boundary, spot a bad situation early, and get away from a grab. Not from a video. Not from a pamphlet. From practicing it — hands on, with a coach, alongside her friends.

This one-hour class at Mighty Oak Athletic in Westmont teaches exactly that. It's led by Coach Mike — a 2nd-degree black belt, USA Taekwondo Level 1 Coach, and Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach who has coached kids in DuPage County since 2013.

Girls practice real techniques on pads and with partners in a positive, supportive environment where it's okay to be loud.

Who Books This Class

  • Girl Scout troops — a favorite troop outing that girls actually talk about afterward

  • High school girls heading to college — practical skills before freshman year

  • Moms and daughters — train together, leave with a shared vocabulary for safety

  • Middle school friend groups, teams, and clubs — birthday-party energy, life-skill payoff

What the Hour Covers

  • Phase 1 — Awareness: The Code Levels (White, Yellow, Orange, Red) — how to stay alert and recognize a situation early, taught through group exercises, not lecture

  • Phase 2 — Hands-On Techniques: Palm strikes, knee strikes, and wrist-grab escapes, drilled with partners. Plus the skill most girls have never practiced out loud: setting a verbal boundary

  • Phase 3 — Real-Life Scenarios: Role-playing personal-space violations and stranger interactions so the techniques connect to real situations
